Tea Time

Afternoon Tea: The Fairmont Empress Hotel, Victoria B.C

There is truly nothing better than the experience of your first afternoon tea and my husband treated me to mine at the Empress Hotel while we vacationed last week. It was such a fun experience and the staff were so friendly in every aspect. We started with Blueberries topped with Empress cream then chose our tea selections. I went for the classic Fairmont Empress Earl Grey while Erik choose the Margaret’s Hope Darjeeling.

Once tea is served an array of sandwiches and desserts arrive that will make anyone hungry. The Salmon Pinwheel and Rose Petal shortbread were by far our favorite! If you’re planning a trip to Victoria, add this to your must-do list. You won’t be disappointed and even receive a parting gift of classic Empress Blend tea, exclusive to the Fairmont.

But First, Coffee.

It’s Monday and if you’re like me, you need coffee. Lots of coffee. I visited the Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room this weekend and will never look at coffee the same way. The Roastery is where Starbucks Reserve coffees {less than 1% of beans qualify!} are roasted and packaged. You can watch master roasters at work, sample amazing flavors, talk to baristas or just take in the incredible design of this place while you sip on your latte. It’s located on Pike Street {of course} nine blocks from the original Pike Place Market store. Now go get a refill and enjoy!

work hard, play hard

We were so thankful to get away with some of our best friends for a much needed pause to residency this weekend {my husband is a Medical Doctor in the US Navy and free time hardly exists} We rented a cabin in Leavenworth with four other couples and had the best time exploring the town, playing “chubby bunny” by the fire, and laughing till early morning!

Leavenworth is a small town modeled after a Bavarian Village {complete with yodeling and mountain goats} and has some of the best German beer, architecture and food this side of Europe. It’s most popular in the winter for its snowy scenery and location to skiing trails but if you’re looking for a unique and memorable getaway anytime of the year, definitely check it out!

Viking Fest

Velkommen til Poulsbo!

Viking Fest was this weekend and of course we had to go. It was our first time at the festival and we had the best time exploring the Viking tents, watching the parade and checking out local Valholl Brewing!

Seriously. Try their Viking Cup. Seriously.
