nSale: Home +Kids

Hi! So sorry its been forever since I’ve had a new post, but sometimes thats life! We are finally settled in Pensacola and it feels so good to be back in this city. We didn’t realize how much we missed it! In North Carolina we were about 30-45min from anything {besides the grocery store} so just being able to “run” to Starbucks or Target makes me feel like I’m living in a big city. While we miss our NC home, we definitely love the location of our new one here and have been taking the time to explore, showing Henry all our favorite spots around town. Tonight were headed to a kid friendly brewery for some local drinks and delicious pizza!

Like everyone else in the blogging world, I’m sharing my picks from the N Sale. I decided to forgo fashion and focus on some of my favorite home and kids items from the sale. Most of the kids things come in other colors but naturally I gravitate towards all things boy because of Henry. Have fun browsing!

1. Maxi Cosi Pria 85 Carseat : We absolutely love this carseat and are thinking about buying another for Erik’s car. The cloth cover is machine washable and it’s beyond easy to install. If you missed this seat on Amazon Prime day, grab it now!

2. Nike Kicks : I just think these are the cutest shoes! The velcro tops are kid {and mom} friendly and keep your kid looking like a “cool dude” as Henry says!

3. Munki Munki Pajamas : So so soft and they come in three different prints!

4. Aden + Anais Swaddling Cloths : If you don’t already know about these swaddling cloths stop what you’re doing and order them! They are our favorite baby product to date {Henry has six!}

5. Pom Storage Baskets : This is also a home item, but we use similar baskets for toy storage and to keep our beautiful mess contained.

1. Nautica Comforter and Shams : If you’re looking for a new beset, I love this one. It’s a clean, classic style stripe that I don’t think you’ll get tired of in the future.

2. Nautica Accent Pillow : These accent pillows are on sale for $25! I’ve spent too much of my life looking for stylish but inexpensive throw pillows so don’t pass this one up!

3. Brooklyn Gold Edge Tray : Such a great, personalized gift for anyone!

4. Monogramed Throw : Another great gift idea, but also perfect to keep for yourself.

5. Octagon Wall Mirror : Love the gold frame and modern style

6. 600 Count Egyptian Cotton Sheet Set : Super soft and they’ll look great under that comforter you just bought!

7. Gold Rim Vase : This vase is only $25 and comes in a bunch of different shapes. I liked the hammered glass and shape of this one.

8. Diptyque Mini Candles : Great to split up as gifts or to use in different places around the house. These are my all-time favorite candles and if you haven’t tried them, its the perfect opportunity!

9. Chevron Spinner Carry-On : Not exactly a home item, but I couldn’t pass up this suitcase. It’s durable with its hardshell case and TSA approved locking system. It comes in three colors and if you’re planning on taking a summer trip, its a great size!

Home Tour: Part 1

Happy Friday y’all! The weekend is finally here and the Olympic Opening Ceremonies are tonight! Can you tell I’m excited about them? If you’ve been following my stories on instagram you probably know that we’re getting ready to move. My husband was accepted to a Navy residency program back in Pensacola and while we love our house and the people we’ve met in North Carolina, we’re really looking forward to being back in Florida and with our “framily”. If you remember, we moved to NC from Pensacola and made some really great friends who have come to feel like family to us. We’re excited about what this next chapter is going to bring and what God has in store for us!

In the mean time, we just put our home on the market! One plus about selling your home is getting the professional photos and the fact that its basically always clean {because it has to be!} Since we have the great pictures I thought I’d share an updated home tour in two parts. Today is all about the down stairs and on Monday I’ll give you a peak into the second floor. I’ve linked everything I could below, but if theres anything you have a question about you can send me an email.  Photos by Rachel Carter

It’s A Boy!

This past weekend my friend Shea and I threw a couples baby shower for Alina {from The Neapolitan} and her husband. They are expecting a baby boy in January and we just couldn’t wait to love on their whole family! We went with a rubber ducky theme and incorporated light blues and yellows through all our decorations. Shea found the cutest cupcake toppers and I ordered mini rubber duckies and jumbo rubber duckies from Amazon. They were perfect for spreading out around the food and flowers and looked perfect on top of the baby blocks I made.

If you’re looking to recreate the blocks or make something similar, it’s pretty easy {but a little time consuming}. I found almost everything I needed at Home Depot and it was all under $30. I used 22″ packing boxes, taped them up and covered them with brown wrapping paper. I googled ‘ABC block templets’ and picked the type of font I liked best {I used the ones on this site I saved the image then went and had them printed to 26″ at Staples {the actual letters are only 16″}. Cut out the letters with an xacto knife to create a stencil but make sure to save the middle sections of the A and B. Trace the letters onto the middle of all the box sides and then paint! I choose a baby blue color at Home Depot and had them mix it in one of their small paint sample containers {about $5} I picked up a mini paint roller to cover the larger areas of the letters and small 1″ paint brush to outline them. They were so easy to make and added a fun touch to the shower!

It’s Friday everyone! I thought I’d share an Instagram round up of things I’ve been loving lately. It finally started to cool off in North Carolina the past few weeks, which makes decorating and dressing for Fall much more enjoyable! We paid a visit to our local pumpkin patch to pick out the perfect one {or two dozen..whoops!} and loved dressing up our front porch. I am in love with these front door wreaths from Genevieve Designs and she’s created the best fall bows for them! All her wreaths are interchangeable which makes them the perfect year round accessory for your home {you can see the one I use for spring and summer here} I’m also loving this gingham iPhone case from J. Crew. It’s on sale for less than $10 plus they’re taking an additional 30% off sale making it under $7! Perfect for turning your phone festive for the holidays {and doubles as a great stocking stuffer!} Being 9months pregnant makes getting dressed in the morning a not so fun event, but one thing I haven’t outgrown are these sunnies from Prada, I love the shape and tortoiseshell coloring. They’re not super expensive {although not cheap} but they will defiantly take you through every season. I had my last pair of sunglasses for over 6years {too long?} and am a big fan of finding classic pieces you’ll have forever- you can bet these new ones will be in my wardrobe for a while to come!

Agenda Season!

It’s that time of year again! I love when August rolls around because that means it’s time to stock up on a new yearly planner and Lilly Pulitzer has been my go-to for the last 3 years! Their agendas come in four different sizes {large is my favorite} but this year I choose the medium size in Tusk In sun so I could easily slip it in and out of my purse {or baby bag!} I’m giving away two Lilly agendas {of your choice!} over on my Instagram page. Look for the Lilly present picture and follow the instructions to enter. Hurry, giveaway ends tonight at midnight and winner will be announced tomorrow!

recipe: banana bread

Preheat oven to 350*

Peel and mash the bananas in medium bowl until they’re of baby-food consistency

Add sugar, melted butter & egg. Stir together until all ingredients are well mixed

In a separate {larger} bowl, stir together flour, salt & baking soda

Pour into prepared loaf pan {I swear by Le Creuset!} and bake at 350* for 60 minutes until knife or toothpick inserted into middle comes out clean

Showered With Love

One of my great friends found out she was pregnant a few months ago so before we moved I threw her a gender neutral baby shower! I decorated with blue, pink, grey and gold and used elephants as our theme. There’s nothing better than fresh cut flowers so I snipped a few from our yard and spread them around for decoration. A shower is always fun when you add a game and for ours you couldn’t say the  word “baby”. We used diaper pins as our tally and whoever ended up with the most pins went home with one of the hydrangea arrangements {it was a great hit!} I snagged the ribbon, giant balloons, and garland from Amazon and custom ordered the cake topper {which doubles as a nursery decoration} from Etsy. I served Rosé, sweet tea to drink, fruit salad, spanakopita, mozzarella & tomato skewers, pasteurized brie with grapes, Mediterranean purses for appetizers, and cream puffs with cake for dessert! We had the best girls night and are looking forward to welcoming Baby Flood into the world in November! Ps. She’s having a girl!!!

Glamour & Giving Seattle

Thursday night was Glamour & Giving, Seattle to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I was so thankful to be a part of the event and had the best time supporting a charity close to my heart, shopping for a cause and meeting some truly incredible people. Glamour & Giving was hosted by Neiman Marcus at The Shops at The Bravern in Bellevue and included a silent auction, live auction, fashion show and some amazing guest speakers including St. Jude patient, Gideon Janku and his mom, Dee-Anna.

As a Tri Delta alumni, St. Jude has been an organization I’ve supported for many years and this event was truly a testament to Seattle’s support for a cause. Lilly Pulitzer said “If you haven’t any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble.” Enjoy pictures from such a fun night and if you’d like to support St. Jude you can find ways to get involved or donate here.

Gideon Janku – You can find Gideon’s story here!
